Day 1
Lisbon, Portugal – Tariff – Tangier, Morocco (700 km – highway)
The first day will be to get us to Morocco.
Our departure will be early in the morning from Lisbon towards Tariff. If you are a traveller from an other location in Europe, we make the meeting point in Tariff. There is no need to meet in Lisbon.
Fast Ferry crossing to Morocco between Tariff-Tangier (or Algeciras-Tangier, depending on weather and sea conditions), followed by entry and customs formalities. Arrival at Tangier.

Day 2
Tangier – Chefchaouen – Volubilis – Meknès (330 km)
After breakfast we head south towards Chefchaouen. A picturesque town situated on the slopes of the Riff Mountain, stopping for lunch and time to explore this small town. The colors and the atmosphere inside the old medina of Chefchaouen are unique. Continuing south we´ll find the archaeological complex of a Roman city, Volubilis. This was the administrative center of the Roman province of Mauritania and is part of the UNESCO World Heritage.
Arrival at the old medina in Meknès, which is also part of UNESCO World Heritage.

Day 3
Crossing the Atlas Mountain heading south:
Meknès – Azrou – Khènifra – Imilchil – Tinghir (435 km)
After an early breakfast, we head towards Azrou, through the Atlas cedar forest where we may see wild monkeys. We will make use of one route that is not commonly used, with breathtaking landscapes and beautiful mountain lakes. Passing the small town of Imilchil, in the heart of the Atlas mountain at 2200m of altitude, we start our descent to the Todra Gorges hat connect us to the “Great South”. Lunch will be on the way.
Later the day we arrive at the Tinghir oasis that lies south of the “High Atlas” and north of “Little Atlas”.

Day 4
Tinghir – Alnif – Rissani – Merzouga (200 km)
Following a good breakfast, visit of the Todra Gorges (cliffs with a maximum elevation of 300 m and separated by 20 to 50 m) as well as a walk through its oasis. Slowly we head southeast towards Alnif and reach Rissani further ahead, known for its beautiful entrance gate. Free time for lunch on the way.
A few kilometers ahead, we arrive in the Berber village of Merzouga, where the Sahara desert begins.
Located just 20 km away from the Algerian border. After a small rest, it’s time to visit and climb the Erg Chebbi, the most beautiful dunes of Morocco.

Day 5
Merzouga – Rissani – Nkoub – Zagora (334 km)
Breakfast followed by departure. Again towards Rissani, heading then west to Nkoub. We will drive across roads with beautiful views before arriving in Zagora, the capital of the province with the same name located on the southern point of the Draâ valley.
In Zagora we reach the well-known sign at the town border stating “Tombouctou 52 days”, the time it takes to reach Timbuktu, Mali by foot or camel.

Day 6
Zagora – Agdz – Ouarzazate (163 km)
This day we head north, taking the road to Ouarzazate. The road takes us along the Draâ valley with its palm trees running along 163 km. As always it is a very beautiful ride, with a view of the desert on our left side and the valley with its oasis on our right side. Some hours later we arrive at Ouarzazate that is the Moroccan Hollywood and considered the entrance gate to the desert. Lunch on the way.

Day 7
Crossing the Atlas Mountain heading north:
Ouarzazate – Ksar Aït-Ben-Haddou – Marrakesh (240 km)
Heading north, after a nice breakfast, we arrive at Ksar Aït-Ben-Haddou, situated on the foothills of the High Atlas. It´s the best known Ksar worldwide, also listed as part of UNESCO World Heritage. The we ascend to one of the great historic routes that connect the “Great South”, therefore crossing the Atlas passing by Tizi N’Tichka (highest point 2260 m) where we will stop to visit. Lunch on the way.
We arrive at the tourism capital of Morocco, Marrakesh, the 3rd largest city in Morocco. The Riad is located near Jemaa el Fna, one of the most animated squares of the world, that will challenge your senses.

Day 8
Marrakesh
Here you will have a free day. Entirely dedicated to explore this magnificent city, “lose yourself” in the ancient Medina. Put your negotiating skills to the test (hopefully you already had some practice the days before), and let yourself be swept away by the colors and smell. On the other hand, you can just simply have a rest on the terraces over-viewing the square, while you sip a mint tea and watch the bustle below.

Day 9
Marrakesh – Casablanca – Rabat – Tangier (580 km – highway)
After breakfast, departure north bound towards Casablanca, the financial city of Morocco. Visit of the Hassan II mosque that has the highest tower in the world reaching 210 meters. Lunch on the way and heading to the final destination, Tangier, passing through Rabat.

Day 10
Tangier – Tariff – Lisbon (700 km)
Early breakfast in order to catch the Fast Ferry crossing to Spain towards Tariff (or Algeciras, depending on atmospheric conditions and sea). In Tariff we part ways. ;-)
